Phase One...

Phase One of the new flooring project. Old carpet gone and beginning to put the blue underlayment down.
Another view of the small area we are doing first...
The floor is installed! There was a lot of cutting and fitting in this area.
Another view of the finished floor. Have the molding to put back, then it is on to the next phase!

Merry Christmas

Here is Guelly showing off his new pots and pans for use in his new kitchen at home. He really is behind that box, I swear.
Ethan got the PDA that he has been asking for from the Garcias.
Hannah seems to love the rocking horse.
Alex on his rocking horse. Ethan and Guelly had races on the horses later. Something tells me they are going to get a lot of use.
Uncle Mark helps Hannah make a slam dunk in one of the baskets he gave Ethan and Miguel.
Ethan and Miguel figured out it was easier to make a basket if you had something to stand on to make you closer to the basket.
Santa Mark begins to pass out the presents...
Merry Christmas from Ethan, Hannah, Miguel and Alex!!!!

A visit to Santa....

The Ney JCs hold Santa Claus at the Ney Firehouse every year. Usually Santa sits just inside the doors and is with all the fire trucks, creating something even more special for the kids to see. But since it was soooo cold and windy tonight, Santa decided he needed to stay warm and moved upstairs to their heated room. And remember, the REAL Santa always comes for the JCs because they have the real Christmas spirit - or at least did years ago when they never took the Christmas lights down all year. Ali, Mindy and Mark thought that was the real Christmas spirit - little did they realize that it was just that the guys didn't see any reason to take them down and just have to put them up again the next year!
Hannah was fine until she sat on Santa's lap.
Alex is fascinated by the guy with the white beard.
Not only does Guelly not like people singing happy birthday to him, he has an aversion to fat guys in red suits with long white beards who want him to sit on their lap and talk to him.
Ethan, on the other hand, told Santa all about what he wants for Christmas. He can't wait till Christmas!!

Happy Birthday Hannah and Ethan!

Alex takes quite an interest in Hannah's keyboard.
Ethan patiently waiting for opening presents time.
Enjoying ice cream.
Hannah eating cake and ice cream.
Blowing out the candles on 'Bob', the truck. Ethan will be 4 Dec. 31.
Hannah tries blowing out the candle on her first birthday cake. The party took place on her actual birthday.
Here's a daytime picture of the ice on the porch.

December happenings...

We had an ice storm move through last night. The pictures didn't come out very well, but you can see icicles hanging from the upper deck in the pictures.

Guelly is excited about Christmas. He helped me decorate the tree.

After he got done, I had to redistribute ornaments since most of the ones he hung were in the same spot :)

Guelly turns 3!!

On to the presents! Miguel is one of those kids that opens a present and then has to play with it before opening up another one.

Thanksgiving 2008

Thanksgiving wouldn't be complete without a lot of rough and tumble jump on their backs action for Ethan and Miguel. Here they try to team up on Kevin.
Uncle Mark plays horse here.
Hannah prefers the safety and calmness of the tractor.
Miguel and Ethan eating peanuts from the shell on the couch.
Alex tries to get a good look at whatever Aunt Mindy is looking at on the computer.
Uncle Mark with Hannah
Ethan and Miguel playing store around the the coolers.
Eating ice chips from a cooler - so much fun!

JC Draw

My bathtub from Thursday until Friday night. Those are the boneless ribeyes thawing out and waiting to be sliced.
The steaks have to been cut. Here are the guys on Friday night working to get them sliced just right.
It was cold and rainy this year, but that didn't stop the steak grillers. They have a barn dooor held up by posts and a skid loader over their heads to try to keep dry.
The food lines before the people come through. We serve a boneless ribeye steak, corn, green beans, baked potatoes, red beet eggs, dinner salad, olives, pickles, carrots, radishes, celery and assorted pies and a chocolate fountain with a wide variety of items there.
The chocolate fountain and pie table... later we add nachos, sloppy joes, peanuts and popcorn! Nobody leaves a JC party hungry.
Part of the crowd moving through the food line after they have received their cooked to order steak. The JC draw was a success again. We had 4 gallons of Apple Pie Drink and it was long gone before the end of the draw - Bennette had more than her fair share :) Next year we may try a new recipe from Mark.... college kids do learn something!

Guelly and Alex say that there was BIG BIG happenings around their place today...
something came that they have been waiting for, something really important and, well, BIG
OUR HOUSE IS HERE!!!!!
The front of the house. Those are some kind of roof jacks you see sticking up.
The work crew trying to get the roof right.
A view from the back. Notice that the back half of the house is not yet set on the basement.
A view from the end. The roof just folds down for transport and then they stand it back up to hook it together.
Working on the roof - a view from the road.
