Church Campout

When you go camping, there is always the chance for rain. Ethan and Guelly didn't let it stop them from having fun. They ran through the run-off from the awning, then used the goggles to look up as they went through, then got an empty chip bag, filled it with the water and dumped it on each other's feet.
Guelly had to try out Ethan's swimming goggles.
When you gotta go you gotta go. Ethan dropped everything and "made a mud puddle" during the rain showers in front of the camper. Here he is trying to get his wet pants back up.

Nacho and Kevin had the bright idea they could get away to play horseshoes without two little boys. But they were spotted trying to sneak away, so 4 boys went to play horseshoes.

Saturday in DC

The Vietnam Memorial
Believe it or not, we walked and walked and walked today. Started at the hotel, which is near the Capitol building. These are pictures of just some of the things we walked to today. If you know anything about DC, you know we did a lot of walking!! This is part of Arlington National Cemetery. We did take the bus tour within the cemetery, but walked all the way there!!
The Lincoln Memorial - climbed a bunch of steps to see a statue....
The view back towards the Washington Monument from the Lincoln Memorial.
The World War II Memorial
Another picture of the Washington Monument. We got in line for tickets about 9 am. They sold out of tickets before we got any, so that is on the agenda for Sunday. Plan on getting there earlier!
The Potomac River
Part of the Korean War Memorial, very impressive.

The graves of John and Jackie Kennedy. Be careful on the steps - they are marble looking with no tread, I slipped on the steps and broke the umbrella. At least I wasn't hurt.

Fireworks in Washington DC

The fireworks did go off in Washington DC. We had rain before the fireworks and had some during the fireworks (that was pretty light) but they shot them off anyway. That is the Washington Monument just to the right of the fireworks. This place is loaded with people today!! Went to the Smithsonian for Natural History and there was a huge long line to see the Hope Diamond, so we passed. Lines and us just don't mix. Tried to go the Arlington National Cemetery when we first got here, but couldn't get into it - everything was blocked off. We saw a lot of people there, just don't know how they got there. We just went on to the hotel then. Have done a lot of walking already and will be doing more tomorrow.
