Defiance County Mudfest - sometimes called a fair

You can always count on one thing at the Defiance County Fair - rain. We got more than our fair share this year. One local Hicksville farmer said he had 9.5 inches fair week.

With rain outside, little boys have to keep busy inside. The sliding door to the bathroom in the camper was lots of fun for a while. For those of you who haven't heard, both Ethan and Miguel will be big brothers by fair time next year. Ethan's sibling is due Dec. 26 and Guelly's is due March 19.
Ethan playing with toys by the door of the camper - keeping an eye out for any sign of the sun. Ethan spent Friday thru Wednesday evening at the fair before him and his dad called it quits and went home. Can't say I blame them!!
As if rain wasn't enough, it also got hot hot hot. Air conditioners are not allowed to be used in the campground at the fair. No clothes and ice cream helps make it all bearable.
Here is a picture from our camper door towards Lisa and Jeff's camper right behind us. They added sawdust and pumped the water out later in the week only to have it rain - a lot - again.
A picture of the track on Monday evening. Covered in water, they had to cancel the Parade of Bands and held the King and Queen ceremonies in the show arena, along with the Pig Catch. Maybe our luck will change next year, but then we say that every year and somehow, it never does. We do have our spots (64 and 66) reserved for next year, so come and visit us. We will be there, rain or shine, cold or hot.
