"Beater" truck

We decided to get a different "beater" truck - that is, a truck just to haul wagons and stuff around the farm. Nothing too nice, but in good running shape and a 4x4. So Chip Baker brought this one out from Jim Schmidt's in Hicksville, and we ended up buying it. It is a 1997, automatic and came with the cap on the back.

Fog this morning meant no school for me. Nacho was helping Tom Singer put tile in the field today, so Guelly stayed with me. He had to try out the truck, as well as get his tractor ride and help me bake Halloween cookies!!

Halloween at the Campground

Luckily it was hot, so Guelly was comfortable in his Indian outfit, complete with bow and arrow. Did real Indians wear disposable diapers???
Ethan was dressed as a doctor when he went trick or treating. He couldn't wait to get out of his outfit and get back to playing Tball. Kevin just got his Tball stand finished and Ethan is crazy about hitting balls on it. He's a pretty good shot too.
Here is Ethan and Guelly, along with Ethan's cousins Micah and Elijah Bok, having fun in the wagon.
Ok Mindy, that baby is due Dec. 26. Where is it???????
Guelly and Mommy at the end of the evening. Too hot for a campfire, but nearly the end of the camping season.

September Fun

The boys came over and stayed one Saturday afternoon. How come they look like they are dreaming up some trouble to get into?
PHEWEE!!!! Miguel can really stink it up.....
A visit is not complete for Miguel unless it involves a tractor ride. He isn't as crazy about a combine, but it will do.
Ethan and Guelly are engrossed in their movie " Charlotte's Web".

Updated views of Mark's rooms....

Here is a view of his room with the new papazon chair and footstool he bought.
TV, fridge, futon, coffee table. Things are put pretty much where they belong.

Mark's new place in Columbus - he is a Buckeye

Here is the front of Mark's new home - 403 King Ave. Columbus, OH His place is on the right - the house is a duplex. It is 4 bedroom, with only 3 guys at the moment. They are looking for the 4th.
Here is the back view of the house. Mark's room is where the air conditioner is sticking out on the third floor!!!
The Living Room - tv is to the left.
This is the view from the living room into the dining room. Have no idea what that door is that is leaning up against the wall. The stairs to up and down is right around the corner of the door on the left. There is also a basement with a washer and dryer - and it doesn't even take quarters!!
This is the downstairs bathroom right off the kitchen. There is a shower on the left.
The newly remodeled kitchen. New appliances and new cabinets. Notice on the top of the cabinets - on the left is a Miami item - Mark added his OU brick on the right.
No pictures of the second floor, which has three bedrooms and a full bath. Here is Mark's bedroom on the third floor. His rooms stretches from the front to the back of the house. Biggest rooms in the house, but he also has to climb all those steps!!!
This is the room as you come up the steps - the steps are about halfway down the room. That is Mark relaxing in a chair on the other side of the room. He will have plenty of room for the futon, refrig, computer desk, bookcases, tv any thing that he wants and can drag up there. One thing is for sure - it is a definate step up from his place in Athens!!! But if you go to visit, be prepared to walk up lots and lots of steps!! My calves hurt today!!

Defiance County Mudfest - sometimes called a fair

You can always count on one thing at the Defiance County Fair - rain. We got more than our fair share this year. One local Hicksville farmer said he had 9.5 inches fair week.

With rain outside, little boys have to keep busy inside. The sliding door to the bathroom in the camper was lots of fun for a while. For those of you who haven't heard, both Ethan and Miguel will be big brothers by fair time next year. Ethan's sibling is due Dec. 26 and Guelly's is due March 19.
Ethan playing with toys by the door of the camper - keeping an eye out for any sign of the sun. Ethan spent Friday thru Wednesday evening at the fair before him and his dad called it quits and went home. Can't say I blame them!!
As if rain wasn't enough, it also got hot hot hot. Air conditioners are not allowed to be used in the campground at the fair. No clothes and ice cream helps make it all bearable.
Here is a picture from our camper door towards Lisa and Jeff's camper right behind us. They added sawdust and pumped the water out later in the week only to have it rain - a lot - again.
A picture of the track on Monday evening. Covered in water, they had to cancel the Parade of Bands and held the King and Queen ceremonies in the show arena, along with the Pig Catch. Maybe our luck will change next year, but then we say that every year and somehow, it never does. We do have our spots (64 and 66) reserved for next year, so come and visit us. We will be there, rain or shine, cold or hot.
